Winter Iris Blue Stripe – Most Irises bloom in the spring and summer, but Iris Unguicularis blue stripe also known as Algerian Iris blue stripe or Kilbroney Marble blooms in the winter.
I grow several different colours of these hardy Irises but this is the only variety with bold purple marble stripes on blue petals. All varieties grow around the same height.
They are all tough not needing much water to survive. Grows well planted in filtered light with fertile soil in hot climates or under deciduous trees.
In order to see the blooms better some people cut the foliage back before the flowers arrive, because the pointy long leaves grow around 20cm taller than the flowers.
On offer is a large rhizome division of Iris Unguicularis with bare roots from my garden.
Iris Unguicularis is easy to establish from bare rhizomes I will tell you how.
