Penstemon Hidcote Pink are frost hardy perennial plants that produce a continuous mass display of flowers throughout the growing season if the older growth with spent flower heads is pruned off. Bees adore Penstemon Hidcote Pink, a vintage variety that grows and flowers well in my garden.
In hot climates, penstemons prefer full sun in the morning and light shade in the afternoon this way they bloom from spring to autumn.
When pruning at the end of the flowering season in autumn keep some old growth on the plant to protect new shoots during the winter.
Give this plant a drink twice a week and some all purpose fertiliser once a year in early spring is all that is required.
