Iris Laevigata – Snowdrift -Japanese Water Iris

Iris Laevigata Snowdrift or White Japanese Iris has six petalled white blooms with yellow signals and violet style arms on unbranched stems with strap shaped leaves.

Iris Laevigata Snowdrift or White Japanese Iris blooms in November through to December in my garden in Australia and thrives in marshes and around lakes and streams. A “Water-loving” Iris Laevigata doesn’t require still water. Grows like a Louisiana Iris, the rhizome extends horizontally and looks for fresh soil to form new feeder roots. It’s perfect for bog gardening or pond borders.
